Vehicle Electronics Hands-On Bootcamp
Build Confidence Working With Vehicle Electronic Control Units, Inputs, Outputs, and Communication Networks
Description
This course is designed for the technician with a working knowledge of low voltage electricity and provides the information and hands-on skills to diagnose electronic systems on today’s vehicles. This course delivers hands-on content in preparation for the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) A6 – Automotive Electricity and Electronics certification exam
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the technician will be able to:
- Identify and describe electronic control unit (ECU) inputs, process, and outputs
- Diagnose electronic components found on vehicles including diodes, capacitors, potentiometers, and transistors
- Describe electronic circuits such as voltage detection, timers, rectifiers, H-bridge, analog to digital converters and other relevant electronic configurations
- Diagnose electronic system faults
- Utilize multimeter advanced functions and oscilloscopes for diagnostics
- Describe communication protocols such as local interconnect network (LIN), controller area network (CAN), media-oriented systems transport (MOST) and others
- Diagnose communication systems
- Perform diagnostics with OBD-II scan tools
