High-Voltage Hands-On Bootcamp
This Course Will Prepare Technicians to Perform High Voltage System Diagnosis and Repair on Electric Vehicles
Description
This three-day course is designed for technicians and service personnel responsible for the service and repair of the high voltage systems found on electric vehicles (EV) and hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV). During this course, attendees will become familiar with EV and HEV safety, diagnosis, and repair in alignment with industry standards. This fast-paced course alternates between classroom instruction and EV lab and simulator activities and concludes with competency-based written and hands-on exams resulting in a certificate of completion. This course prepares the technician for the L3 Light Duty Hybrid / Electric Vehicle Specialist certification through the Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). Knowledge of automotive electrical systems diagnosis and repair is strongly recommended.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the technician will be able to:
- Describe high-voltage systems, components, and operation
- Utilize a scan tool to diagnose high-voltage system faults
- Utilize high-voltage test equipment including megohmmeter, milliohmmeter, and PC based oscilloscope
- Deactivate high voltage systems for diagnosis and repair
- Diagnose interlock system malfunctions resulting in a failure to ready on
- Diagnose Loss-of-isolation faults
- Diagnose motor and drive system malfunctions
